A fond farewell…
It’s been 13 amazing years since the seed of NWS came to fruition & welcomed members to our first gathering in Shrewsbury with the intention of bringing businesses across the county together to grow & connect.
Rosie Beswick & Leigh Clarke set that seed, after much persuasion, as there was simply no model like it available then. We personally funded the group to get it off the ground and have provided all our time and backroom services at our own expense. We were very quickly joined by more unpaid volunteers, Kelly Mansell and then later on Kay Heald, who gave their time and resources for free. Sadly, both of whom had to step aside 2 yrs ago due to the pressure of their businesses, forcing us to have to lessen the number of meetings, which in itself has added other pressures.
Over that time, we’ve seen the popularity of the group grow & greeted a diverse range of businesses through our doors, been privy to some amazing transactions that this has created as well as opportunities that have opened doors to great things for some. We pride ourselves on having been the foundation of many a strong friendship that has been formed through meetings & the endless support, advice & help that has been generated amongst you all too. We also pride ourselves on breaking the stereotype networking membership offer and format, something now often copied.
When we heard the fate of The Lord Hill that has been our settled home now for quite some yrs, after several traumatic venue changes, we were like many, shocked & saddened. They have been amazing hosts helping us to entertain many an expert & extravaganza. As you all know we are an unfunded volunteer lead group & therefore have very limited funds which the hotel have kindly taken on board when we’ve negotiated our needs year on year.
We have built a group that as our name has always stated ‘Networks with Style’ & with the very limited venue options available in Shrewsbury for our needs along with the personal demands our own businesses & lives now hold, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to go out in style & end our reign on a high. At this time there are so many other groups appearing or growing that we took the decision safe in the knowledge other options are out there for all.
We’d love you to join us for our final Network Extravaganza on 19th November 2019.
We’ll be welcoming familiar faces from over the past decade as well as any new ladies that want to take advantage of this opportunity to make some great connections during the afternoon with the focus being on celebrating and looking to stay connected in the future…We thank you all for your suggestions, kind words & support over the summer; it has not been an easy decision for either of us but we both know at this moment in time it is the right one to make.
So, all we ask is for you to help us make our November extravaganza an event never to be forgotten.
